«Nite» is the nick name for I Love Dancing socials & parties. A great concept for dancers to socialize and practice, a concept created by by dancers, for dancers! 1998: The idea of the ‘Nite’ started getting shape all the way back in 1998 during Reyza´s 2nd stay in NYC , where Jimmy Anton’s Sunday social was held. Jimmy gathered all dancers and dance school students in midtown Manhattan where they all had fun dancing to their most favorite songs, played by the best Dj’s in the community. 2000: The concept gets launched in Oslo: After Reyza came back from his third stay in NYC, in 2000, he started the first and only full time salsa studio in Norway, named Salsa Site Dance Studio. After a few months, «Sunday Social» was a fact. To begin with the concept was meant for SalsaSite students, only. As the time passed, the project was ready to be introduced to the whole salsa community in the capital. 2002: In 2002, we moved the project to a club downtown Oslo, named Route 66, under the new name ‘SalsaSite Nite’. The concept continued… we had the party early on sunday, so people could sleep enough to be ready to work on monday morning! In the beginning people strange the fact of coming for a party so early, but after sometime, they gave lots of compliments to the idea: In fact, they could study and work on Monday morning without being tired! 2003: By the end of 2003, ‘Salsa Site Nite’ moved to another nice location, named Mezzo. The place was large, high under ceiling, modern, and had a nice dance floor. There we hold nice dancing parties on sundays and on some fridays (Spicy Latino Parties). We had sometimes dance shows and that’s when we started our SalsaShop stands in a small version! 🙂 2004: In March 2004, the concept has moved to Stratos itself. Stratos is a classic place for events in Oslo, Norway, on the top of Youngstorget. Download the presentation! There we see the most beautiful overview from Oslo. We were dancing to the sunlight, then to the sunset, and finally to the ‘nite’, were we get a cool club felling. Between April and March, the project was named Club Nite. From the end of May, we decided to call it for ‘Nite’. Dancing at Stratos will be forever remembered from all salseros who have been there! Even dancers from abroad who came to visit said they have never seen such a nice place for couple dancing! We came every sunday already at 14:00 to arrange the location with lights, colors and flowers, to receive our friends. It was like home, as if we were preparing our living room to receive our guests. There we had the true feeling of a salsa family who was looking forward to meet each other every sunday! Also at Stratos SalsaShop stand took a larger version. We really miss that time! 🙂 2005: In August 2005, ‘Nite’ has moved to ‘Million Bar’, a new, beautiful & cozy venue! Million has a smooth dance floor, fresh air, tables indoors and outdoors, disco lights, with beautiful view to Christiania Torv and Akershus Festning. In October 2005, Salsa ‘Nite’ takes a break… And at the same time we found a perfect location where we could build a Salseros Dreamland! So we started to work hard on it, so we could open NITE, our own dancers club! Here comes the evolution of the NITE Dancers Club at Øvre Vollgt 6: October 2005 We got the place as a printing factory 🙂 November 2005 We took down all the ‘garbage’ from the ceiling, etc. December 2005 We had filled up thousands of wholes & started painting! We just got a new stage! January 2006 We got the place ready for dancing 🙂 We open NITE with a New Years Party! Club ‘Nite’ has 400m2 Club with 230m2 Dance Floor! Many good parties, festivals and classes were hold in this amazing location in 2,5 years! This place will be for us unforgettable! 2008: In August 2008, we move NITE Dancers Club to an even better location, in Møllergata 9. A place made by dancers, for dancers, with 540 m2, 3 dance rooms, modern facilities and much charm! See the pictures ! 2009: In November 2009, we move NITE Dancers Club to an even better location, in Kirkegata 12. 2013: I May 2013, we moved to our present locations in Tollbugata 13 I Love Dancing (formerly SalsaSite) is situated in the heart of downtown Oslo, the Norwegian capital. It is a part of «Posthallen-kvartalet», 2 blocks from Karl Johan. Our new charming place is also made by dancers, for dancers. On the ground floor, with windows to the street.
